My daughter graduated 8th grade on May 22. We decided to celebrate this occasion by eating at her restaurant of choice. She wanted hibachi. However, we haven't lived long on the west side of town, so I relied on my friends' recommendation for a Japanese restaurants to eat at in this area. Sakura was one of them, and because it was closest one to her school, we decided to give this place a try.
We called to make a reservation since we were a party of 7. My family and I have never eaten here before so we wanted to make sure that they could accommodate us, because we are a large party.
Now, anyone who goes for hibachi, goes 50% for the food, and 50% for the show the chef puts on. Our hibachi chef was wonderful! He was entertaining and engaging. He performed the usual tricks you expect to see, but he surprised us too! Our favorite "trick" is always the onion "volcano"; we love the dramatic burst of flames as it "explodes." But the Chef did one better: he made it "erupt" soy sauce-and we have never seen that before!
The food was good. The portions were generous-we all had leftovers to take home. It's a very nice restaurant-they have a beautiful yet small outside garden that's perfect to take pictures at. The decor is simple and minimalist, exactly what you would expect out of a Japanese restaurant. Our server and the rest of the Staff were all polite, and they made us not only feel welcomed, but they took care of us throughout the entire dinner. We enjoyed eating here and would come back again. -

Never had a bad meal here, one of the best in Jacksonville and a safe bet for good habachi.

What can I say about this place...I think it had the best hibachi in my area! The chefs always give a great show, provide just the right amount of flavoring, cook the items the way you like. And, presentation and freshness with your sushi orders is always top notch. Their Ginger Dressing for the simple ice berg lettuce salad is by far my favorite in all the Japanese restaurants where we have dined. Not too sweet and not too tangy, just right. Never a bad meal, whatever side you decide to eat on.

This restaurant was amazing and the food was the second best hibachi I've had in the state of Florida. Prompt, friendly, fresh, and delicious. Simple as that.

We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday. We had a reservation so we were seated right away. However, we had to wait over 45 minutes for our chef to arrive. 3 tables that arrived after us were getting their food cooked before we did. Our waitress was rude and slow and we had 5 very small children who were cranky and hungry. It ruined our Friday evening.
